Wren Turbines USA will hold its' inaugural "Open Day" November 14th, 2009. Mike Murphy from England will be in attendance and we will be featuring a roundtable discussion while building a Wren 160 and Wren 70. This will be a very informative discussion to include design theory and the evolution of the Wren line.This is a great opportunity to purchase and build a Wren 70 under the supervision of the Wren team. The test stand will also be available if you have a motor that you want checked over.
Friday the 13th will be a lucky day as we will be hosting a late afternoon customer appreciation and house warming for Mike. The "man grille" will be smoking up some delicious pork, and drinks will also be included. Times for this will be 4pm till 9pm Friday evening.
Due to the limited space, attendance will be limited for this weekend event, so plan now to attend. RSVP by November 11th.
Hotel arrangements can be made from this end, as I have requested a block of rooms at one of the local hotels.Transportation to and from Fort Wayne International Airport can also be arranged.

Wren Turbines attended 9 events this year and sponsored the Saturday nite meal at Route 66 Jets. Thanks to all my old friends for their continued support and also to all the new friends made this first year.

Also, we are planning on our first "OPEN DAY" at our location in Indiana, the first part of November. Mike Murphy from England will be here visiting, so it would be a great opportunity to come and visit.

All motors now leave the shop with a new design two piece tailcone that dramatically reduces the noise level at full throttle, and increases the thrust output by .6 pounds.. The big A-10 is ready for it's maiden flight. This model will be attending Jets Over the Heartland in Winamac, Indiana June 25th-28th. It has a pair of Wren 160s' installed, JR 12X, scale lighting and operating canopy.

Wren Turbines USA feld rep Sean Saddler recently completed a turbine conversion on the BVM Electra using a 44 Gold. The plane flies very well with 9 minute flight times easily managed with plenty of reserve. Dry weight is 11.75 pounds.

The first tests are complete, with more to follow.
126,000 rpm = 35.1 pounds / 15.80K thrust @ 20 ounces per minute 565C egt
120,000 rpm = 32.0 pounds / 31.75K thrust @ 18 ounces per minute 495C egt
110,000 rpm = 24.8 pounds / 11.26K thrust @ 15 ounces per minute 460C egt
Conditions at time of testing:
65F / 18.4 C Pressure 29.32
Every turbine is tested on this stand. All data is logged for each motor and only those motors that meet or exceed minimum thrust are sold to our customers. Temperature, barometric pressure and humidity are all factored in to the performance! Final thrust, case pressure and exhaust temps data is recorded for each and every motor.
