Open Day Discount Price on Engines.

It is less than two weeks until our next Open Day (16th August) and we are pleased to announce that there will be a 10% discount on engines bought that day. This applies to everything except the 44 helicopter engine, which will not be available as there is still a long waiting list.

Wren Open Day April 2009

Thanks to everyone who came to Open Day. We had many visitors, the sun shone and we had a great time. Four customers bought and built the new Wren 70 kit engine, all four engines ran well and were taken home by happy owners. The new Wren 44 helicopter engines were on show, with one on the test stand so everyone could hear how quiet the engine is, and see the fast throttle response. Pictures will be posted here very soon.

New Wren 70

We have a new addition to our range - the Wren 70. This is a MW54-based engine built here at the factory and giving over 7kg of thrust. Price is £1565 including VAT or £1360 for customers outside Europe.

JetPower 2008 was even bigger and better than last year! Once again we were blessed with blue sky and light winds and there was flying from 10 a.m. till dusk. All the Wren pilots flew extremely well and there was great interest in the engines, particularly the 44 helicopter and 44 turboprop.

We had a wonderful Open Day yesterday - possibly the busiest one ever, certainly the busiest one for several years. Despite the cold weather, there were lots of people here, building engines, mending engines, running engines, buying engines and talking about engines. Every built or repaired engine had a successful test run before it left.

He has spent the last week at the Wren factory, learning how to service our engines, and will now be offering sales and service on Wren engines in the USA. Happy New Year everyone! We're back at work now, with lots of exciting new projects for the year ahead. Many of them involve the new 44 size shaft-power engines: the 44 turboprop will be first, then we hope to have the 44 helicopter and the 44 marine engine.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Open Day yesterday. Our new Kero Start was demonstrated on the 44 turboprop and helicopter, several helicopters were flown (including the big Lama) and as always, engines were tested and sold. There were a lot of people present and we all had a great time.

Wren team members Lucien and Eric from Luxembourg hope to be with us on this occasion. Lucien is our Turboprop pilot and has been flying with the new 44 turboprop engine, which will be running on a test-stand at Open Day. Come along and see what else is new!

The JetPower show was bigger and better than ever! "Jet Heaven" with two huge marquees filled with more than 70 Jet Traders, and wonderful weather. Our pilots, Chris Seaman (F18 Hornet with XL200), Lucien Gerard (Pilatus Porter with Wren 44 Turboprop) and Roger Hamilton (Synergy Helicopter with Wren 44 Helicopter engine) put on an excellent display. Our tradestand was busy throughout the show and we met many old and new friends.

SPECIAL OFFER - Engine Sold

We have an ex-review Wren XL200 looking for a good home. This engine has just been tested by Tom Wilkinson for RC Jets International, and has returned to us with an hour's runtime. We are selling it at a discount and the purchaser will have the satisfaction of knowing exactly how the engine performs because all the test details will be published next month.

We are pleased to announced that the move to the new factory has resulted in an increase in production, and we now have all jet engines ready for shipping immediately. Order one now!
XL200 engines are now shipping

The XL200 engine is now in full production and we are working our way through the backorder list. First reports from fliers are very encouraging - Alan Cardash of Boomerang Jets says that it has "Easy rapid start up, about 30 seconds to running, every time and amazing power" and "the best vertical performance I've had from any turbine I've tried before." He was flying it in the Boomerang XL and noted that the Wren XL200 used considerably less fuel than the engine previously installed.
Some of us are taking a well-earned break!

After the hard work of moving to the new factory, getting the XL200 ready and a busy Open day, some of the Wren team will be on holiday over the next week or so. As a result, email response will be limited but you can still contact us by phone. Normal service should be resumed on Friday 27th April.

What a brilliant day we had today! For our first Open Day in the new factory we had beautiful sunny weather and a good crowd of friends and customers, old and new. Turbine Helicopters were out in force - Dean Jackson gave a great display with his Cuatro, several other people brought and flew their helicopters and two new customers built heli engines from kits and ran them successfully.
The new XL200 was demonstrated, as were the MW44 turboprop and MW44 helicopter. Thanks to everyone who attended and helped to make the day such a success.

New Year 2007

We are back at work again after the Christmas break and looking forward to a busy few months. At the end of January we move into the new factory and work is in progress to get it fitted out and ready for use.
Parts are being made for the first batch of the new XL200 engine, but getting a new engine into production takes a lot of effort and it will be Spring before the engines are available.
We hope that 2007 will be a good year for us and for all our customers.

MW44 Gold wins the Efficiency Competition

We are pleased to report that the MW44 Gold came joint first in the GTBA (Gas Turbine Builders Association) Engine Efficiency competition last week. Peter Chaffe's homebuilt KJ66 joined the MW44 in first place with an almost identical thrust specific fuel consumption.

The Amazing JetPower Show - Update

This show gets bigger and better every year! We had a brilliant time - met many friends, flew our planes and helis, talked to customers old and new, made some good sales and saw a lot of interesting planes and engines.
It was sunny on Friday and Saturday, then cloudier on Sunday. There was flying all day, every day, and a huge marquee full of traders. "Jet Heaven" for the model flier!

At home, we had a great Open Day with good weather and happy customers.
Meanwhile, our new MW44 Turboprop engine had its first public flights at Jets over Pampa in Belgium.

Wren's next Open Day is on 23rd July from 10am until 4pm at the Wren factory in Yorkshire. We will have people building engines, repairing engines, running engines and there will be model planes and helicopters on display. The spares shop will be open all day.
Tea, coffee and homemade cakes will be available as usual. Everyone is welcome - if you've always wanted to learn more about turbines, now's your chance!
