SUCCESS AT LA FERTE ALAIS!

Although the crowd was less than usual at La Ferté Alais, the Wren stand was always well attended even with temperatures reaching 100 degrees farenheit.  Over the 3 day event Wren had two flying slots per day (7 to 10 minutes each) where popular Wren engines were demonstrated & the prototype of the Wren 44 Heavy Duty Turboprop had its maiden flight in Lucien Gerard's model The Bronco (also on its first outing).  The (1/3.5 scale) Bronco demonstrated the amazing power of the 20kg thrust (each) engines, turning  32" x 12" 3 blade propellor, enabling Lucien to show scale like flying & aerobatic manoeveres with the 44kg model, which has a 3.5 metre wingspan.  Lucien built the model over a period of 18 months & his hard work paid off when he was awarded the "Coup de Coeur" Trophy for his flying & building efforts.  To see The Bronco in flight please click on this link -

Other notable pilots were Paul Behm & his 10kg BK117 helicopter (petrol conversion) sporting a Wren 44 helicopter engine & his Jetco model fitted with a MW54 Kit engine which made some impressive speed passes.  Jeannot Behm's Yak model with its Wren 44 TP showed impressive 3D and torque manoeuveres such as touching the ground with its rudder!

Wren staff member & new comer to La Ferte Alais, Paul Hardman, performed some beautiful scale like flying with his Pilatus PC21 model & Wren 44 TP engine.

Greg Goncalves, head of Wren Team France, flew his Compass Odin helicopter fitted with a Wren 44 & showed some almost impossible 3D manoevres to impress the crowd.

All in all a good time was had by Wren & everyone returned with a French sun tan.  Special thanks must be given to cup winner Lucien for showing off the Wren 44 heavy duty turbo prop engines in his beautiful Bronco model - Bien Joué!
